GMD Top 250 (based on RYM ratings)

the new RYM update means you can create charts based on specific users so i thought i'd do a UM one.

if anyone else has a RYM account please let me know the handle in the next few days, then i'll do the countdown. anyone who wants to rate more stuff had better get on with that as well, looking at you bloopy! won't be anything too fancy but at least it's something to post on this dead ass board.

let me know if you'd prefer it to be metal only or not. it'll be dominated by metal either way but i thought it'd be fun to mix it up a bit. i'm also planning to include EPs/demos, but i could also post a separate EP/demos one anyway as that'd be pretty interesting.

Also couldn't you create custom charts based on specific users before this update? I recall creating custom charts based on every user who rated Irae Melanox 5/5 in the past

as far as i know all you could do was that weird user charts thing where you type the usernames into the URL, but it only went up to 100 and wasn't customisable or anything. there was also no link to that feature anywhere on the website so hardly anyone knew about it.

basically you'd just need to have rated a buncha albums on RYM (and tell me your username), you don't need to actually rank anything. the way the charts work is they automatically rank every album on the website based on the average rating from the users i include. so if 6 users ranked a metallica album 3, 4, 4, 4, 4 and 5, that'd be a 4.0 average from 6 and it'd be ranked accordingly. they're also weighted for volume of ratings (so that an album with 5.0 from 1 rating wouldn't be ranked higher than one with 4.5 from 10 ratings for example).
