Title says it.. need something good for acoustics.. everything I have really struggles and makes it super pumpy and makes the strings pop really weirdly. Maybe its my settings.. do you prefer fast/slow release/attack on acoustics?

I hate to say it but the free LA2A ripoff from antress sounds really convincing in this application.

Checked those out, the LA2A wasn't great, didn't compress enough unless it was distorting, but the modern compressor works really well. Transparent, doesn't really sound like its been compressed but there's no weird peaks and the level is really consistent.

Interesting. I haven't tried that one.

Gotta say I'm really digging that plugin too. I used it on snare and kick, it makes them cut better in the mix.

I use the CLA3A paired with a limiter, though bear in mind this thing can have a painfully slow release and you need to be after that 'blanketed' characteristic.

In the past I've had success using the SSL Bus Comp on acoustics for a quicker treatment. It's sort of my fall-back compressor when everything else fails. SSL ftw.

From memory I used the CLA3A/L1 combo with the acoustics on that sus Polish mix comp that you seemed to dig a bit: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/285689/MissTemptation-4.mp3
