Good Death Metal This Year....

Papa Josh

Minister of Propaganda
There has been quite a bit of quality music in the death metal genre this year, with some of the veterans producing some of their best work in years and the newer ones keeping consistent.

IMMOLATION - Shadows In the Light

All very strong releases in their own right.

i didn't like any of those except Akercocke ... Immolation and MC should hang it up already ... they were never that relevant to begin with.

You are insane! That new Immolation is a very good record. I just picked up the new Malevolent Creation with the lineup of all lineups, Brett Hoffman back on vocals, Jon Rubin and Jay Blachowicz back in the band and Dave Culross behind the kit. :kickass: :kickass: :kickass: :kickass: :kickass:

I have never heard the other band, looks like I have something to check out. Gracias!

Aye, check out their last full length "Recremation."

EDIT: Actually I think "Terra Necrosis" is available already, at least on vinyl. *Goes off to blow more of my funds"

I heard promo tracks off of the new Incantation and it sounded great...with the exception of some fucker jumping in on each track screaming "You're listening to xxxx by Incantation!!! Out now on...." damn promos.

I thought Nominion's 'Recremation' was solid but fell short of being a must-have item. I still need to check out the latest Immolation. I've always enjoyed their stuff. I heard a track off of the new album, though, and it seemed a little dull so I have concerns about that one...hence the delay in picking it up.

so the new Malevolent Creation is good? and what about the Incantation?
I await my copy of Ithyphallic

the new Vital Remains is pretty damn good

The Incantation is pummeling,a s always, a good blend of death and doom/dirge.

And the Malevolent Creation, I will put my balls on the line and say it's the best thing they've released since Retribution, period.

That immolation absolutely kills, there best since close to a world below. The instrumental on the ep was also very good. I can't wait to see them live in the fall :kickass: :kickass: :worship:

Yes, definitely a band that I have on my still need to see live list. I have not been able to track down a copy of the EP from the usual channels. Also, I need to get me an all regions dvd player so I can get the damn PAL dvds that I want.

Where is a good place to get one, anyone?

I haven't been listening to much death metal lately but the new Vital Remains is solid and what I heard from the new Angelcorpse was pretty cool. I was a bit bored by the bit of the new Immolation that I heard. And Nile seems to be on a downward slope with their last two records.

I think I'll go check out that new Mithras.

I like the new Nile better than the last so far.. Picked up my digipak today at the local mom and pop.

The Mithras is brilliant just don't freak out too much when you hear the vocals on the first track, they only last on that first part and then they are gone. When I first heard it, I was like, oh please say it isn't so...

Ceremonial Execution - Black God Rising 7"
Ribspreader - The Monolith 7"
Nominon - Terra Necrosis
Blaspherian - Allegiance To The Will Of Damnation MLP
Funebrarum/Interment - Conjuration Of The Sepulchral

So,

Necros Christos - Triune Impurity Rites

is the most death metal release I own since Bloodbath's Ressurection Through Carnage.

what else do I need to check out?
