It's just not....funny. At ALL.

"Hi, we are not funny!"

I watched the first one and liked the "goldfish with the brain of a German guy" but have since declined to watch any new episodes.

Yeah, it is pretty terrible so far. It seems that every successful show has a good balance between the stupid and the normal people and in American Dad everybody is bloody dumb. The alien, the dad, the mom, the son are all extremely stupid and the daughter is only marginally better. The goldfish is a good idea but is not very present..

I have to like AMerican Dad b/c Seth McFarlane is a local hero. I mean the lead character of Family Guy apparently got his name from a mutual "friend." However, I am planning to move an hour north for the express purpose of not liking American Dad. I mean fuck if I want boneheaded patriotism that tries to parody social issues and terrorism... AMERICA, FUCK YEAH!

yeah seriously - the new FG episodes seem to have a bit of the problems the Simpsons ran into, where they rely a bit too much on previous bits that have happened in the show and run the risk of either becoming too self referential or just become stock story ideas (brian & stewie off by themselves has featured heavily in both new episodes, but not in a particularly clever way) but on a whole they're pretty good. the intro of the first new one where peter lists all the fox shows...oh man

I have not seen the new season of FG, but I thought American Dad blew balls. American Dad is too much like FG, recycled garbage.
