Hye guys jsut got my hard drive back from seagate, which recently failed. They have so say refurbished it and sent it back in a lovely little padded box. However, the drive after brief tests is showing only a 75% fitness level. What do you think of this, and would you recommend i contact seagate and tell them it is unacceptable and that i want a drive that is 100% functioning!!!

Here are the test pics

1. my 200gb seagate fully fucntioning pretty much:

2. my 80gb seagate that just came back at only 75% fitness:

dude... just get another.... seriously not worth the headache... imagin it all going titts up mid project... they are so darn cheep now man... www.aria.co.uk and www.scan.co.uk are the cheepest buy buy buy!... even better sort out a raid array (if your mobo allows) .... then get a cheep external cady for 15 pound and use the rogue drive as a portable

... unless they'll give you a brand spanking new one!

Yeh thats the point really. I dont see why i should let the company get away with it either. I'll give them a go, it cant hurt. Theres no way i can risk using this one though. Seagate = bloody useless! And whats more, they can emburss me for my postage this time. bastards.

talking of hard drives... anyone know how long they should actually last and when would be sensible to get fresh ones? Just out of interest?

replace it when it fails...

replace it for a faster drive...

replace it for more capacity...

replace it to have a backup...
