I'm not gonna post any examples because people just pick at them instead of reccing anything... so... go crazy.

Theatres des Vampires would be my obvious recommendation if you aren't already familiar with them. Bloody Lunatic Asylum is their best album in my opinion and one of my personal favourites but I'd ignore anything they've released 2005-onward when they shifted direction and ditched their lead vocalist. The Vampire Chronicles, Suicide Vampire and the Iubilaeum Anno Dracula 2001 EP are also worthwhile releases that mix in black metal with gothic elements, among others.

Cradle of Filth is the most obvious recommendation with Dusk and Her Embrace being a very gothic-themed album. Their early stuff is fantastic as well, but I understand they're not for everyone.

Darkness of Blood's album A Dream of Vampires in Astral Dementia is very good too.

Lamia Antitheus might be worth looking into as well but in this style of music, there's a major tendency to sound like Cradle of Filth, or at the very least, Dani Filth. There aren't many groups that truly fit the gothic/black metal label and of the ones that do, most of them aren't very good to begin with.

I realize these recommendations are vampire-themed but problem is that a lot of bands who are considered to be of the gothic/black metal tag often stray more into the general symphonic/melodic/gothic/extreme metal area. The ones I recommend are more focused on the "gothic" mood and vibe of things. By gothic I'm more referring to gothic literature, art, architecture etc as opposed to gothic rock influences because it's very rare that you'll find that in metal anyways. Though the group Coffin for Mary does have gothic rock influences but really not much in the way of black metal.

I can look on my computer later and see what else I've got though. I know I used to have a bunch of stuff.

I already know of Theatre Des Vampires and they're exactly what I'm looking for, so I'm gonna assume the rest of your recs are spot on.

Also dont mind the vampyre image... as long as it isnt Twilight.

Also looking for gothic metal with a heavy amount of growled vocals. Dont mind clean vocals, but a mix of the two is the most enjoyable for me. If a female must wail, preferrably one that's tolerable. Obvious bands I already know: Ashes You Leave, Draconian, Moonspell, other gothic/death/doom bands I cant seem to remember...
