In an exclusive interview with Mark Strigl, Great White guitarist Mark Kendall opens up about the passing of the band’s original vocalist, Jack Russell, sharing thoughts on his long time bandmate. He also reveals exciting details about new Great White music in the works, the band’s current line-up, and their plans to play the M3 Rock Festival 2025.

Kendall takes us back to the band’s glory days, reminiscing about touring with Whitesnake, his history with Guns N’ Roses, and Ian Hunter. Plus, he shares the untold story of how he tried to help the late Jani Lane (Warrant) stay sober. He also dives into the making of the Psycho City album and much more.

Kendall on Jack Russell:

“Jack and I were connected at the hip for our whole career. There was no hatred or anything; it was just addictions and things like that that just happened. I don’t even take that personally. We wanted him to get better. I did a dedication to him live at a show (because) I just wanted people to know that we were brothers. He had the greatest voice. I met him when I was 20 years old, he was only 17. We had all of that history, all of those records, all those tours, and it was a shame to lose him so early.”

On August 15th, 2024, Jack Russell – a founding member of Great White – passed away at the age of 63. The message below, announcing Russell’s passing, was posted on the official Facebook page of Jack Russell’s Great White:
