On February 10, GREAT WHITE's Michael Lardie (keyboards, guitar) was interviewed by Lance Hall of "The Silk And Steel Power Hour" radio show on 90.7 WJSC-FM. You can now listen to the chat below. A couple of excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). On whether GREAT WHITE has begun recording the follow-up to 2012's "Elation": Lardie: "Not as of yet. We're just compiling either ideas, riffs or complete tunes. I mean, Mark [Kendall, guitar] and I have found a really good groove right now, and we're sending ideas back and forth via e-mail [and] through text. We're putting together tunes that way. And we're gonna probably start getting together with the rest of the boys the first week of March and see where we're at. But we've got, I think, ten solid ideas already, which is a great leg up, to start with." On GREAT WHITE's plans to better prepare for the upcoming recording without losing the spontaneity: Lardie: "[The plan is to] not get too much into thinking about recording a demo, per se, other than just write the lyrics, work on the melody a little bit and get it to the point of, like, 'Okay, this sounds like it could be a song.' And then from there just get everybody's input on it to really make it sound like a GREAT WHITE song is supposed to sound like." On whether he will once again be involved in the production of the upcoming GREAT WHITE album: Lardie: "Yeah, that's the intention. Mark and I are gonna do the production together, and I'll just engineer, because it's just part of the day. It doesn't seem out of step to do that. I mean, I think it's also that when you're with your brother and you feel like you can open up and be yourself without having to learn how to work with somebody new, there are advantages to that." GREAT WHITE is founder and lead guitarist Mark Kendall, Michael Lardie (keyboards, guitar), Audie Desbrow (drums), Scott Snyder (bass) and lead singer Terry Ilous. "Elation" sold around 1,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. Issued on May 22, 2012 via Frontiers Records, the 12-song CD marked GREAT WHITE's first effort with Ilous following the band's split with founding singer Jack Russell. This version of GREAT WHITE is not to be confused with GREAT WHITE FEATURING JACK RUSSELL (formerly JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE), which features Russell alongside Robby Lochner (FIGHT) on guitar, Chris Tristram on bass, Tony Montana on guitar and Dicki Fliszar on drums. GREAT WHITE released a live album, "30 Years - Live From The Sunset Strip", on February 22, 2013 in Europe and February 26, 2013 in North America via Frontiers Records.
