Greatest new website award

That's not bad, but have you noticed that they only list the full releases in the discographies? What I like about librariusmetallicus.com is the fact that they go right back to the demos. Man, I don't even know where they find the old cover art for some of those old demo tapes.

Actually, what's better about this site is the write ups! Every entry has a quick write up and bio article - that's very cool.

A sure sign of decency: they list Hammers of Misfortune, and librariusmetallicus.com does not! :loco:

yeah yeah, I need to add them. I have a list of 30 or so bands I need to add (some requiring a lot of research still).

I try to write up info on the bands I add, but sometimes it's hard to find decent info, or the band is well known enough that I'd just be saying the same old shit everyone already knows. That, and I'm not a very prolific writer. Dustin was really the best at the write-ups, but he hasn't been actively contributing to the site for a while.

As for the demo art, Google is a wonderful thing. I wish we could find covers for every single release on there, but unfortunately we can't.

The only thing I cared about is the Gig Guide. If you haven't looked through that part, you're missing the best part of the site. It's awesome. But then again, you actually have to WANT to go to concerts. ;)

Cool, great addition. The only thing I see wrong is that they are in San Francisco, not Los Angeles. ;)

ok, Hammers is now on Librarius. I wasn't sure on a few of the details, so feel free to tell me what I got wrong and I'll fix it.
Nice work jimbob.

OK here's a few things I would point out:

1 - The August Engine line up featured Janis Tanaka (ex-L7) on bass and vocals - she left before the album was released. Jamie Myers and Sigird Sheie didn't join until after it came out, so they would make up the existing line up as you already have listed correctly.

2 - I would imagine that John Cobbet would also be in the line up for UNHOLY CADAVER since HoM is his band. The line up isn't listed in the actual demo itself, however.

3 - The release date of the Unholy Cadaver demo (simply titled "Demo Number One") is also unclear - however, the songs are copyrighted '96, '97, and '98, if any of that helps. I would take a guess that the demo was finished and released in '98 therefore.

4 - John Cobbet also has a side BM project called LUDICRA, if interested. He also appeared in GWAR's line up at one point early on. They now have a large cult following due to their on-stage performances, particularly in the UK.

I would, but the majority of the bands I like either:

A) are split up
B) don't tour the US
C) never come to Houston

Add to that, I'm not a huge fan of live shows.

Okay that gig guide is cool, but is there a way to sort the shows by a more specific region? Looks like every other search filter is possible.

I never understood that (not being a fan of live shows).
Don't know really. It's hard for me to justify driving into town (most of the clubs used in Houston are in not-so-good areas), buying a $15-$25 ticket just to hear a band that I can listen to on CD.

I understand the appeal, especially if the band is from outside the US and rarely comes hear, and the few shows I've been to have been pretty good. It's just too much trouble a lot of times.

C) Never come to Houston is a big problem though, for those bands that DO tour.
Houston is always left off. It's one of the top 5 biggest cities in the US and it's always left off. Yet these bands always go to Austin. Whatever...

I'd give anything if shows were only $15-$25. They seem to be getting even MORE expensive lately. But shows seem to be the only time I actually go out anymore, so...I just love live music I guess.

shit, I was thinking of Death & Taxe$ when I wrote LA 'cause I just got an email about their new release. I'll fix that. I thought I read on the website that the lineup change came before the CD was recorded, but maybe I misread. I'll go check that out. I wasn't sure about Cobbett being in Unholy Cadaver because an old news post on the Slough Feg site mentions Unholy Cadaver as Mike Scalzi's band and doesn't mention John. Maybe it was before John joined Slough Feg.

It doesn't have Nasheim so obviously it's inferior to Encyclopaedia Metallum and some other site I know that lists it.
I submitted Nasheim there :saint:

rockdetector.com has been good to me for a good few months. Lots of info on Judas Priest inc. the real early days which I liked :)

mark: I go whenever there's something interesting, but that's not really that often here and sucyh sites never cares abou lil' Umeå anyway (neither does most bands)
