I recently acquired this cd from one of my small hauls. In honesty, this album does not hold a candle up to its predecessor "Light of Day, Day of Darkness" but if you look at it as an individual release it is still quite good.
The songs are somewhat diverse in quality because everyone in the band takes a stab at lyrics. The music is also a more layed back style rather than crashing guitars in Light of Day. This actually works quite well and accompanies the hammond organ sound nicely (even though im not a big fan of that sound)
Here are the highpoints of the cd for me
Crushed to Dust - is a nice fast paced song
Lullaby in Winter - is a slow brooding ballad that just sounds very beautiful. this is one of my favorite songs on the album
Boy in the Attic - its about abuse, its disturbing, but its great
Myron and Cole - my favorite song on the album, by far the most progressive and musically interesting. The lyrics are about a drug trip and are quite excellent giving the message not to do drugs.
There are no bad songs but some are definitely better than others. I highly suggest you check this album out even if you didnt like Light of Day because this album is in the total opposite direction while still remaining Green Carnation.
