Grendel - A Change Through Destruction

Firebox Records recording artist GRENDEL - "this is what Amorphis should sound in 2008!" - has few concerts lined up for the coming months. Bands second album A Change Through Destruction will be released in Finland on 22nd of October, with international release date is planned for January 2009. Stadilaisen Grendelin kakkosalbumi yllättää todella positiivisesti.
Aiemmin persoonattoman ja ponnettoman vaikutelman antanut ryhmä on
saanut uudella levyllä rutkasti lihaa luiden ympärille, kuulostaen
Entombedin ja Alice In Chainsin risteytyksen soittamassa Metallican
80-luvun sävelmiä grunge-otteella Iron Maidenin ja Amorphiksen
kitaraharmonioilla ryyditettynä. Nyt homma toimii!
Thunderstonen Nino Laurenteen pyörittämässä Sonic Pumpissa on
loihdittu mehukkaat soundit, jotka palvelevat musiikkia
esimerkillisesti. Mikko Virtasessa Grendelillä on monipuolinen
tulkitsija, jolta lähtee sekä melodiat että korinat. Miehen
tulkinnasta tuleekin useampaan otteeseen mieleen Amorphiksen Tomi
Joutsen.
Grendel ei riffittele järin omaperäisesti, mutta yhtyeen melodiataju
sekä sovitustaidot yhdistettynä Virtasen komeisiin laulutulkintoihin
saavat kappaleet toimimaan ja elämään. Tyylitaju säilyy läpi koko
levyn, minkä vuoksi on ihan turha nostaa yhtäkään kappaletta toisten
yläpuolelle tässä reilut kolme varttia kestävässä kymmenen biisin
paketissa. Hieno albumi!
Vuoden kovin kotimainen metalliyllättäjä on tässä!

Firebox Recording artist Grendel participates in the 5th annual Finnish Metal Expo in Helsinki, FEB 12.-14. by performing at Cable Factory on Friday the 13th.
Other live performances will be provided by the international names such as Black Dahlia Murder, Andre Matos, Misery Index, Grand Magus and Legion Of The Damned. Finnish prowess is well represented by the likes of Ancara, Before The Dawn, Ensiferum, Medeia and Profane Omen.
More additions to the Cable Factory program will be announced later.
