This popped out at Musikmesse 2012. Haven't heard about them before, but they've been around in for some time it seems.

Kind of interested.

I guess what sticks out is the 30dB attenuation and internal damping to reduce the boxy nature if such a device.

Any takes?

i have the Grossmann audio SG FAT Box since quite some time now
i ordered it with a Celestion V30, but i swapped it agains a G12M Greenback, to fit it better with my splawn quickrod..

The buildquality is very good, and the damping is quite high, though the bass frequencys can get through the walls and might distract some neighbors, if you turn it up pretty loud.

The Box does sound some kind of boxy, but not that much, of course depends on the distance of the mic to the speaker, but i find the most practical thing is that you have it fully miced and nothing can touch/move the mic position…

Thank you for sharing your impressions.

Is it silent enough to be able to listen to the monitor signal in the same room? Or would you prefer using headphones?

of course you can, but it depends on the amp and the volume you crank it..
and also how loud you have your monitors set

you can crank it so loud that you have the impression the speaker will blow soon, the sound in the room with the top cover closed is like a bee in a cardboard box, only palm mutes are shaking the floor
When you lift the top cover, you nearly get deaf, so damn loud it is.

i personaly always track guitars with headphones, as i´m more into the music and i play tighter

to reduce the bass frequency transfer to the floor and walls you can buy 2 rubber mattress that you usually use for your washing-maschine, that works quite well too.

cheers
