Guitar finishes : nytro or Poly ?

But it looks so cool. Actually I started a thread a while back about sanding up the neck for feel and aging reasons, let me try and dig that up.

I put nitro on one of my guitars and it gouges easily and is soft, you can make a line in it easily with your fingernail. Also the back is all scratched up from my belt. This doesn't happen on any of my poly-finish guitars. I don't think there is a tone difference between the two, and I really prefer the durability of a poly finish.

I loathe nitro finishes. I have it on my Les Paul Custom and plan on getting it refinished soon. It gunks up really fast especially if you are playing live and sweating.

i like poly better, as i made the experience with my 2 nitro finished guitars that some printed t-shirts or faux-leather applications on clothes tend to stick/glue on the nitro lacquer, but not on poly.
