Guitar Volume pedals?

Hey all, i was looking to buy a volume pedal for my pedalboard, was going to get one of the ernie ball ones but noticed there is different ones (i.e: one is 25k and another is 250k) i couldnt find any info on what is the difference between the 25k and 250k.
i'm sure the difference is simple but i dont know what 25k and 250k mean in terms of a volume pedal which is sad on my behalf.

any helps appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that has to do with the amount of resistance the pot has (and yes it has a pot in it)... basically how much it will dampen the signal from the guitar.
