Guitarist Dweezil Zappa, the son of music legend Frank Zappa, has shared a new video along with the following introduction:

“This crazy train runs right through Jack Black’s crack! Unearthed from my vault, it’s Tenacious D and actress Arden Myrin with a pair of off-the-wall covers from an early 2000’s TV show called On The Spot. Airing on the WB, the show had ‘on-the-spot’ improvisation from the cast members based on audience suggestions and music was included in that concept. I served as the band leader and had a jolly good time!

I’m glad I found these performances on a DVD; I hadn’t seen them in decades. I was able to enhance the audio myself from the original stereo mix using Spectral Layers, stereo-izing the guitar, bringing up the level and adding some extra punch to the drums and girth to the bass. Jack’s vocal also got a bit of reverb and delay. Other versions of this ‘Crazy Train’ are uploaded to YouTube if you care to compare, but this one is superior because the audio is better and the video is at a higher resolution. Plus you get the bonus song, ‘I Love Rock ‘N Roll’, also played on the EVH Rasta guitar.
