GUNS N' ROSES has tweeted a sarcastic thank-you note poking fun at people who have publicly taken partial credit for the reunion of several members of the band's classic lineup. AEROSMITH frontman Steven Tyler said earlier this week that he played a role in getting singer Axl Rose and guitarist Slash back together. He said during an appearance on "The Howard Stern Show": "I'm sure I'm not solely [responsible for the reunion]. But I did meet Axl in a couple of clubs a year ago and two years ago and three years ago. I bumped into him, and I had that talk… I said, 'You need to get fucking back together again soon, because we all miss you.'" Tyler added that he had taken advice given to him by Jon Bon Jovi and passed it on to Axl, telling him: "You've got to get it together. There's a place and a time where, if you don't, you're going to miss it." Andrew Dice Clay has also implied that he had a hand in bring Slash and Axl back together. The comedian, who has been friends with GN'R road manager Tom Mayhew for many years, claimed in a recent interview that the guitarist's infamous "Happy Birthday" tweet to Axl in February 2015 came after Dice told Mayhew that they needed to get Slash to tweet something good about the singer. GUNS N' ROSES' latest tweet, which appears to be a direct reaction to Tyler's claims, reads: "GUNS N' ROSES would like to respectfully thank the many people taking credit for our upcoming shows and everything in between. Especially those whom we haven't spoken to in numerous years who, through the power of media, have somehow served a pivotal, even if non-existent, role. We and the fans thank you!" GUNS N' ROSES has announced four headlining performances in April, with Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan the only members confirmed so far. The rest of the lineup for the shows — and a potential tour later in the year — remains unclear, although keyboardist Chris Pitman, Reed, drummer Frank Ferrer and Fortus are all believed to be involved. The status of original members Izzy Stradlin and Steven Adler remains unknown, along with that of "Use Your Illusion"-era drummer Matt Sorum.
