BackstageAxxess.com recently conducted an interview with Greek guitar virtuoso Gus G., well known in rock and metal circles for his work as Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist and as leader of his own band FIREWIND. You can now listen to the chat in the YouTube clip below. A couple of excerpts follow (transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). On playing with Ozzy Osbourne: Gus: "It's such a mindblowing experience. It's hard to put into words how awesome it is. You only have to show up on time and play the best you can. It's just mindblowing to be a part of such a big machine, see how it works, how it travels, how it gets set up, how everything is done. And just playing all these big shows next to that dude, who is one of the guys who are responsible for the music we play today." On whether there will be another solo album to follow this year's "I Am The Fire": Gus: "I've been very happy with the way things are going with this new solo project, so I've already been writing some songs for the next one. I would like to do the next album fairly quickly, so hopefully next year [I can get it done]." On his plans for a new FIREWIND album: Gus: "Well, there hasn't been much happening with that. I mean, I have ideas and riffs that I keep on the side for the next record, but I'm just not really in a rush with it right now. You know, seven albums in ten years, it's just
I think we can afford to kind of take it easy for the next one." A special expanded edition of "I Am The Fire" was released in Europe on November 3 (digitally in North America on November 4). This limited CD + DVD digipak features four bonus tracks and a 62-minute bonus DVD (including the album's four official video clips so far, plus three live tracks, six guitar tutorials, as well as an EPK and track-by-track commentary). "I Am The Fire" entered the official chart in Greece at position No. 27. The CD sold around 700 copies in the United States in its first week of release. "I Am The Fire" was mixed by Jay Ruston (ANTHRAX, STONE SOUR, STEEL PANTHER) and was recorded between Los Angeles and Gus' home country of Greece through the latter half of 2013.
