Had to CRUSH these vocals with a comp!

Hey guys, just finished this band and am in the middle of mixing the songs for them. The vocals were extremely airy/washy so I took the advice of one of the other threads here and smashed them with a compressor and a host of other plug-ins.

Any advice on this mix would be great. Need to send them a copy soon.

At the clean part with vocals the vocals sounded pretty bad. When the distorted guitars came in, it worked better, but I think you should do something about the clean part. I understand it might not be very easy though, if the vocals didn't sound too great to begin with (airy/washy).

Overall the vocals worked ok IMO.

Yeah they wanted that vocal to be effected (during the clean) so I just put a little distortion on it (kinda like a telephone voice clipping) but I definitely want to try a few more things with that. When the distortion comes back in it goes back to the normal plug-in chain.
