HALESTORM bassist Josh Smith has hinted at the band's next recording project, saying that "there might be covers on it" as well as "something a little different." HALESTORM hasn't released any new music since last year's "Vicious" album. Frontwoman Lzzy Hale has alluded to working on a secret studio project this past summer but has given no further information. Asked by Metal Talk in a new interview if HALESTORM is planning to release a follow-up to its third covers EP, "ReAniMate 3.0: The CoVeRs eP", which came out in January 2017, and if he would like to record a James Brown cover for it, Josh said: "I would love to do some funk. We've talked about doing a SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE song. Maybe someday. Stay tuned — we've got new music coming out for you. There might be covers on it; something a little different. I don't think I can say anything more about that yet though." HALESTORM will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the band's debut studio album by releasing "special package" on December 20. Released in 2009, the LP was produced by Howard Benson (MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, P.O.D.) and featured the single "I Get Off". The band went on to release three additional studio albums, becoming a mainstay on rock radio. The tenth-anniversary vinyl edition of "Halestorm" will feature all-new artwork as well as pre-production demos and bonus material that tell the story of "how that first album came about and the struggles and wins and the things that happened through the music," according to guitarist Joe Hottinger. "Vicious" was released in July 2018 via Atlantic. The disc was recorded at Nashville, Tennesse's Rock Falcon recording studio with producer Nick Raskulinecz. HALESTORM was nominated for a "Best Rock Performance" Grammy Award for its song "Uncomfortable". In 2012, the band won its first Grammy in the category of "Best Hard Rock/ Metal Performance" for "Love Bites (So Do I)". According to the Grammy web site, Lzzy became the first woman to earn a Grammy in the category.
