Lzzy Hale says that HALESTORM's upcoming album most closely captures the energy of the band's live shows. HALESTORM is putting the finishing touches on its fourth full-length disc for a tentative mid-2018 release. The effort was laid down at Dark Horse Recording studios just outside Nashville with Nick Raskulinecz, an acclaimed producer who has previously worked with RUSH, KORN, ALICE IN CHAINS and DEFTONES, in addition to having produced HALESTORM's third covers EP, "ReAniMate 3.0: The CoVeRs eP", which came out in January 2017. Asked by the Boston radio station WAAF why HALESTORM chose to work with Nick this time around, Lzzy said (see video below): "The covers EP was kind of a test. Because those things are kind of safe and easy, and it's kind of our way to test out some people. So we were, like, 'Let's go in and do it with Nick and see if we actually like the guy.'" She continued: "He's just so great. He's such a fan. And I've gotta tell — we've been talking about this a lot — he's, I think, the first real, real, real rock producer that we've ever worked with. So it's really neat to just kind of go in the room and not have to have the conversation, like, 'Oh, no, no, no. It's cool. We can do that. We're a rock band.' If anything, he kept pushing us. He was, like, 'Oh, no. That doesn't rock enough. You've gotta rock more.' I'm, like, 'Okay. Cool. Awesome.'" According to Lzzy, the first taste of the new HALESTORM music will be made available "very soon." She explained: "We're just kind of in the eleventh hour, making sure that we've got all our ducks in a row to kind of unleash it upon you. But we're super excited." She added: "I feel like this is the most… Every record, we try to kind of get it closer and closer to what people see every day live. And I really think that this is the most HALESTORM record that you're gonna hear from us as of yet." HALESTORM debuted a new song called "Black Vultures" at the opening show of its Canadian co-headlining tour with STONE SOUR in late January in Abbotsford, British Columbia. HALESTORM guitarist Joe Hottinger told the SiriusXM show "Trunk Nation" that the band's follow-up to 2015's "Into The Wild Life" will contain some of "the heaviest stuff we've ever done." "Into The Wild Life" was criticized by some HALESTORM fans for veering too far into pop music territory. HALESTORM has announced details for a second leg of its North American tour showcasing all female-fronted hard rock outfits. The new dates begin July 27 at Kansas City, Missouri's SEC Arena and run through the end of August. NEW YEARS DAY and STITCHED UP HEART have joined HALESTORM and IN THIS MOMENT on the first leg of the tour and NEW YEARS DAY will return for the second leg of the tour.
