Hardcore demo recorded on friday

yeah, should be a good time. we got the gtr DI as well, so id like to use some type of amp modeling on both. probably sansamp on bass and ampfarm on gtr.

i just remebered keith did a mix or two last nite. maybe hell post them on here?

als, philr, you should post some of your hardcore mixes :D

http://www.myspace.com/braindeadukhc Is probably the best of it (although the myspace player shits on everything... I don't have any of their tracks at home). Got an awesome drum sound with these guys.

Sounds pretty good to me! This mixed song reminds me of Modern Life is War a bit. The guitars are really good IMO, but the drums sound a bit messy to me. Bass is pretty nice too for this kind of stuff. I'd be interested to hear the final mixes when you get them done.

yeah that band is a really bizarre mix of a lot of bands. some of their stuff sounds like the more riffy metal/rock stuff, some sounded like Infest worship songs, and others like MLIW.

It sounds totally "honest".
It totally reminds me of Modern Life Is War or Hope Con - both sound- and songwise.

I think Keith's Mix rocks :D

Keith mix is great.

The unmixed tracks sound kind of "ghetto" on their own but once it's mixed it's good and the production fits perfectly to the genre.

I listened to the demo and i prefer the mid tempo/slow tracks like the one Keith mixed than the fast ones actually. Track #7 is very intense.

pretty cool music and the mix is pretty cool too, really fits the music. I would back off on the bass overdrive a little (if possible) or blend in some clean low end at least. also the snare gate is pretty obvious, as the cymbals are twice as loud when the drummer hits the snare. but don't get into details too much, the rawness suits it really well!

Keith, would you share some details on your mix - eq-settings etc.?

I love that rawness btw...

thanks for all the positive feedback.

I can't really give you much info, because the sound is really close to how we tracked it, also i can't open the session here.

The guitars had alittle bit of eq: 57 had a mid cut around 500 i think, and the 421 had a mid boost around 1k if i remember. I think they 57 was slightly more prominent. The bass was through a sansamp psa-1 plug in. The drums didn't have very much eq, i think the kick had some boosts in and around the 4k area. The snare has alittle cut around 100hz and 1k. The kick and snare both have oxford limiters on them, as well as mcdsp dynamics.

the vocals are just a mojave MA-200 into a distressor. I used a smidge of mcdsp console on it it fit it alittle more in the mix, and boost some highs. i sent that to 2 busses: one with digi tape delay, and one with revibe.

thanks i didn't notice the snare until now.
