Man I love this band so much...I wish they'd come to America soon :\ Anyways, what are some other records the guys who mixed and mastered "The Sickness Within" did? I think the production on the CD is excellent and sounds killer.

I did guitars for "The Killing" EP, I believe it's called, and guitars + bass for "The Sickness Within". Drums and vocals were done at Tommy Hansen - www.jailhouse.dk - Tue mixed it ("The Sickness Within". I don't remember who mastered it.

For "The Sickness Within" we made the best bass sound I have ever heard, but it hardly ended up on the album, unfortunately. I can't hear it anyways.

cool band  somewhat repetitive at times, but nice groovy stuff nevertheless.
i totally agree about the sickness within bass sound, it's definitely barely audible. but other than that, i think it's a great sounding record, pretty unique especially the guitar sound - i wonder what you used for that record? kinda sounds like 5150 mixed with their jmp1/mesa rack setup they use live?

i also really enjoy the drum sound, especially the kick and snare. nicely balanced, with the kick pretty loud (i like that!)....also, they managed to keep the kick from sounding too plastic even though it's probably triggered to hell :D

two thumbs up

For guitars on that album it ended up being EQ -> Dual Recto -> Recto 4x12" with Vintage30 + Marshall 4x12" 1960 -> MD409 + MD 421. And dubbed with Marshall 8100 -> Recto 4x12" + Marshall 4x12" 1960. Same mics.

The guitars were Schecter as far as I remember - with EMG81. We did a few dubs with a PRS.

We did try a bunch of guitars and amps - including the 5150 - but we all agreed that this combination worked for what we were looking for.

There's even a shot of the bass setup.

lol, ok, i guess my ears suck  i did consider a recto (mixed with a 5150, though), but i'd never have guessed that there's an 8100 to be heared on that record.
but as i said, it sounds great!
mh...maybe you can recall whether there are a few parts/fills on that album where you can hear only one of the amps? i think e.g. in the fallen shall rise... there's a fill that just sounds *different* but i'm not sure right now.

ah yeah, and one more question, what amp was used for the leads?

anyways, thanks a lot!

Jacob, as i remember you also used the Recto and 8100 together on Aborted - Goremageddon. Cool how this sounds totally different.

Ps. I adore Raunchy's bassguitarsound still. Bought me a EBS Multidrive, sounds almost the same on my MusicMan HD150(tubes!!!).

For the 8100 bashers, check out Prong - Cleansing, that's 100% 8100.

You know, the 8100 is great in combination with many amps. The fast response of the low-end, contra the slow, fat low-end you get from the Recto. I am not saying that the 8100 is a fantastic amp, but I can buy 10 8100's secondhand for 1 Dual Recto secondhand... And it's easy to dial in. The clean and crunch channels are great and versatile, too.

Yes, that exact combination has been used a couple of times, all with different outcome, I should say. This combo is also on Raunchy's "Confusion Bay", and actually it's there on "Death Pop Romance", although we dubbed all guitars with a POD... Not very great, though, but we wanted a bit of that digital in-your-face (and annoying - haha) sound.

I believe the 8100 is starting one song (in the right speaker as far as I remember... which one is that... hmmm. I'm an old fart! Can't remember.

Prong is great, BTW! Robbie or Tom?

Anyway, Raunchy was a three piece setup for "Confusion Bay". I think it was Duak Recto for the driven sound, Ampeg (something) combo for the clean sound, and a line. The same kinda thing on "Death Pop Romance", but just less gained this time.

probably the third song, reaper of life?

It's Tom. Hi there dude:rock:

I've mailed Raunchy's bassplayer how he did this live, was a Multidrive into the Ampeg. He told me how you recorded Confusion Bay. Nice job.

I don't remember the song, but that one is from "Bloodred Hatred", which Tommy Hansen did. I believe JMP-1 and 2:90 was used on this one for the guitars. And an SM57, I believe. Maybe MD421.

Hey Jacob you've recorded the new HSB (and some other records i like)... I'm really looking forward to hear this record!
