So as many here undoubtedly know, I'm not the biggest KSE fan - I can't really say I blatantly dislike them, I just find 'em boring - but man, listening to "A Light in a Darkened World", that wailing bend at the very end of the lead line in the chorus just seriously makes me sprout 16 boners, it's that EXPLODING METAL type of bend that's just epic beyond all words, and good god does he play it with expression (the vibrato is just insane, and I guess Adam's too on those pinches). Are there any other KSE songs that showcase his lead playing? Really wish he did more of it, I'd probably like them a lot more :(

Yeah adam took over almost all of the lead playing in the band. but i think joel is a better lead player then adam. but of course joel is a tighter rhythm player as well

What lead playing? (haven't listened to more than one or two songs after EoH though)

Anyways I've always been of the belief that vibrato is 100% of what makes a guitarist badass....who cares how fast you can shred if you can't make it sound awesome? guitarists are so misguided these days...

+ 1 BILLION TRILLION, it's the difference between a ripping solo and what might as well be a stream of MIDI notes IMO

Guiatar isn't even my main instrument and this is exactly how i feel, i don't care if a gutiarist can play a million notes at lightning speed, if theres no feeling, its shit!!

I know i may get flack for this but thats why i would rather hear a Slash/G'n'R solo over anything by Vai or Satriani...

Lead lines in Breathe Life and Holy Diver, utter Epicness!!:worship:

This I'll endorse

This I will not  But hey, whatever makes you happy!

I think Joel may do the solo in the first song off the new cd, but then again it could be Adam. Adam did the one in "Breathe Life" also. I will say I find Joel to be a way better guitar player. From what I gather he is big into George Lynch and guys like that. Dude has monster tone, vibrato, and squeelies.

Seriously, Peter Wichers has the most infinite musical mind than any other metal guitarist/writer in the business, plus he has the immense technique that noone else has, bends, and the way he composes his solos, its like every single one he does is just a "yo peter throw something down to this rhythm" and there it is. Listen to the solo from Room No. 99 on Chainheart Machine, I swear there's nothing like the way he plays.

Joel is pretty sick as well, i wish it would show a little more instead of weak ass radio riffs from Adam D

Did Wichers do the solo in 'Stabbing the Drama' title track? That's the only reason aside from the production I ever listen to that record.

As far as vibrato, the 3 guys that inspired me most there are Malmsteen, Akerfeldt and Loomis. All 3 have godly vibratos in their own right.

I like KSE , but it's always pissed me off there aren't more guitar solos. Both guys have amazing vibrato, and for the few leads they do, are far more tasteful and expressive than many guys out there. I'm not saying they should have 3 minute wank offs in the Dream Theater vain, but just more of those short and sweet 20-30 second guitar solos like in Breathe Life would be awesome.
