Have any of you noticed that I don't like Children of Bodom?

I'm starting to like them, but I never saw anything special about them. The music sounds generic too often, and lacks the edge of many other bands.
What I wanted to ask was, how is their live performance? Is it the same as their recordings, or is there a different feel, not the somewhat secluded feel fo the studio version (I feel that way about them). DO they just play as accurately to how they wrote the songs, or do they try to play it hard asnd make it so anyone will feel blown away? I'm not even talking about quality, but how does their live sound compare to the CD sound?

i never saw them live, but i've seen practically every video available on regular p2p including that whole Seoul show, and i can tell you that they're not sloppy... my only complaints would be that the bass generally sounds too low, but that could be cause all of those videos aren't really recorded with professional quality (except the Seoul one maybe but the bass still sounded weak)

aside from that, the only difference i can tell is Janne's soloing... it's all out wild without sticking too much to his studio solos
though he plays goddamn tight in those unisons with Alexi

Usually songs during gigs are played lil'bit faster, Alexi and Jane (mostly) add some extra notes and sounds, improve solos. So its not completely the same, and its not so much different. The gigs sure kick ass, Ive never been to any, but Ive read alot of ppl reports, noone said that they fucked up the show, they could have had a badass sounding or stage menagement, but they always kicked ass Steve :)

eagleflyfree: can you tell me from where did you get the vids from? I have few from kazaa, but thats it.

i got them from kazaa mostly, though the more rare ones take a long while to download cause there's generally only one or two guys with it

and also a great (the greatest even imo) p2p service is the eDonkey network... you can even choose your client and all
i use eMule cause it has the nicest user interface
there's a huge honking monster count of big files like whole discographies or whole albums, movies, cd images, etc but i mean a real lot, with a lot of people to download from at once... the downside is you have to stand in line for quite a while before you download, and when you do so it's at really low speeds (generally below 10kbps)
though 700-800mb files usually don't take more than two nights to finish, including wait times and all

I'd describe their live performance everything but sloppy. If you go to see them live, I promise you won't be disappointed.
