How's Florida for a holiday!!!
After Mexico last year, me and my bro Mike are planning to visit the USA, last 2 weeks of august!
This is what we need: sun/beach , beer, good lookin women, live music and live sportevents!!
Fill me in !!!

Where do you plan on going in Florida. I recommend Miami, some of Fort Lauderdale, and most of all--the Florida Keys. Key West especially. Fun atmosphere down there. I find people in FLorida can be obnoxious. THey seem to hate the tourists?! Or maybe it was just me and my buddies??

Yes, We could be obnoxious at times:Smug: :tickled: , but it just seems like in certain parts they hate the tourists who are their bread and butter! It is nice and warm though, damnit!! It was minus 1 degree this morning when I got in my car. My nuts just re-entered my sac a few minutes ago. :)

Gas - we rag on tourists in California too. No offense :D In high school during homecomeing week we had a day to dress like tourists. black sock and sandals rule. I pretended to be a big dork like my Dad, who's from Des Moine. I did a leisure jacket in the 80s.

Dutchy - Florida will be hot as shit in August. What live sports do you want? Soccer, Baseball? You may catch a college football game that late in the summer or a pro football exhibition game.

Darby-You're dad's the coolest!

August is probably too early for college football unless you're in Florida for the last weekend in August possibly. I don't think most of the college season starts next year till the first weekend in September because you can only play 11 games next year. Dutchy, if you want to see "American" Football when you're there, you'll have to probably go to an NFL pre-season game. If you were there late enough to go to a Florida State University or University of Florida game, and football is your thing, I'd definitely recommend that. The atmosphere would be awesome. Probably no riots or anything like that, though!

Cy - I forgot I wore bright red courdory pants( a real 50s relic of my Dad's) with the leisure jacket, I can't remember if I did the white dress shoes though. :D

Well, Florida State opens the season at Miami on Sept. 6. If you could stay later, that would be worth rearranging vacation plans for assuming you are interested in football. Even if you are not, that might be a good game. It is one of the biggest rivalries in college football, the players all grew up playing with and against each other and the two schools HATE each other. Add to that the fact Miami beat Florida State twice this year on missed field goals, it is the season opener and it is the first game they will play as members of the same conference so it is not just for bragging rights. You just might end up with riots. :D Of course, getting tickets will probably cost you a couple hundred bucks each for this game, but I think it would be worth it. I would LOVE to get a chance to go to one of those games someday.

The University of Florida opens on Sept. 4. Looks like baseball will probably be your best bet unless you want to see preseason NFL games. I would imagine tickets for Tampa Bay games would be pretty easy to get. Florida won the World Series last year, but I don't know if that will have any impact on ticket sales at that point in the year.

My in-laws have season tickets for the Buccaneers. They say pre-season games suck because its so damn hot, even if they're at night.

Hmm. I didn't really make myself clear. I was referring to the Devil Rays, not the Bucs. I would imagine Bucs tickets sell pretty well. That Super Bowl thing would tend to do that, although they had been really good for a few years before that.

Def, wanna see some Football , Baseball, Basketball, anything will do. When I was in NYC I visit a Mets game, it was killer all the way!!they even had some boyband (believe it was O-town) singin the national anthem, Anthrax were outa town!!. The biggest game we have in Holland is soccer and it's real interesting to see how these cultures are different from each other. It's just one big show!!!LOVELY!!!
How hot is hot ??
And no i'm not filthy rich , I'm just fuckin Hillfiger's daughter!!!

Basketball would get you stuck with the WNBA that time of year I think. As far as college football goes there maybe some lower division games(then what Cy mentioned) to check out too. I think MLS(are pro soccer league) might start that time of year too.
