Ok I was wondering how much of a difference new drumheads would do to a not-so-great set of drums and what type are the best to get? I need a deep, quick, punchy tone.
get non-porous, dual layer hydraulic heads.
Good drumheads can do quite a difference, but they won't turn the sound great by themselves. If you got the money, Remo all the way.
i played on this taiwanese 14" porous snare Michael, which is like the poor man's Remos, and it was actually pretty good for the price (14 reais, would be like less than 7 dollars the time i bought it )
my drummer friend uses Remos on his Mapex Hulk really expensive drum kit but he got it because he got extra cash from his band members, from Shed this Earth, a american metalcore band. he and i both know his band is gay, but at least he gets a drum kit out of it :Spin:
