With a career spanning nearly four decades and multiple gold and platinum records under their belt, Canadian rock icons, Headstones, continue their triumphant return with their 11th studio album, Burn All The Ships, set for release on September 19 via their new label home, Dine Alone Records.
Alongside the announcement comes “Daylight Lightning”, a brooding slow-burn that captures the shock and stillness of life-altering news and a fierce reminder of the band’s raw intensity and unmistakable grit.

Frontman Hugh Dillon calls it a band favourite, “‘Daylight Lightning’ is unique and unconventional in both subject matter and execution, subversive and unapologetic. It is the essence of our music.”
The new track follows the band’s recent hit, “Navigate”, featuring Dallas Green (Alexisonfire, City and Colour, You+Me). The song rocketed into the Top 5 on Active Rock radio in just five weeks and has held strong inside the Top 5 for three weeks. “Navigate” is one of the fastest rising and hardest hitting Canadian rock tracks of the year. A performance video, shot at the label’s HQ in Toronto and directed by longtime visual collaborator and director of photography Gord Hawkins, is available to watch below.
Burn All The Ships features some of the most dynamic material of the Headstones’ career. Produced with longtime studio ally Chris Osti, the record swings from snarling punk rock to unexpected moments of depth and restraint. For the first time, they brought a couple of badass musical friends into the mix. Metric’s Emily Haines lends her edge to the razor-sharp, “An Effort To Forget”, while Green shows up in full force on “Navigate”, adding new layers to the band’s trademark sound.
Limited edition vinyl and CDs are available to pre-order at both the Dine Alone Store and the Headstones online store. See below for descriptions.
“It all comes down to natural chemistry and restless imagination. We will things into existence to satisfy a relentless artistic drive,” says frontman Hugh Dillon.
Formed and fronted by the inimitably charismatic Hugh Dillon in 1987, Kingston, Ontario, Headstones have solidified their status as one of Canada’s most influential and enduring rock bands, carving out a unique space in Canadian rock with their no-nonsense punk energy, and relentless live performances.
The band’s debut album, Picture Of Health (1993), propelled them to national fame with hits like “Cemetery” and “When Something Stands For Nothing.” Over the years, they’ve delivered a string of acclaimed albums, including Teeth And Tissue (1995), Smile And Wave (1997), and Nickels For Your Nightmares (2000).
After a brief hiatus in the early 2000s, Headstones roared back in 2011, proving their staying power with hard-hitting records like Love + Fury (2013), Little Army (2017), and Flight Risk (2022). Flight Risk featured the song “Ashes,” a collaboration between Dillon and longtime friend Taylor Sheridan (Sicario, Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown), with the track featured in their co-created Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown. Hugh is also an executive producer, writer, and actor on the show, starring alongside Jeremy Renner.
Decades in, Headstones remain as vital and uncompromising as ever, proving that true rock and roll never fades; it only hits harder with time.
