HEART's Ann Wilson is preparing for her first-ever solo television special. The iconic vocalist will film her newly added April 11 show at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, Illinois for an upcoming special to coincide with the release of her new solo album, "Immortal", that's due out this summer via BMG. For this special, Ann and her band will perform songs from the HEART catalogue, tracks from her solo career and highlights from the new album.
While the full track listing is still being unveiled, "Immortal" will feature some of the singer's favorite musicians and songs by paying homage to those lost in the past few years, including Lesley Gore's "You Don't Own Me", Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black", TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS' "Luna" and THE EAGLES' "Life In The Fast Lane" in honor of Glenn Frey. For the new release, Ann teamed with original HEART producer Mike Flicker.
Speaking about Tom Petty, who died this past October, Ann said he "was always really a big influence on me. From the very beginning in the late 1970s, I thought that his band was really original and sexy and cute and smart, and just a really good rock band."
GOV'T MULE/ex-ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND member Warren Haynes played guitar on "Luna", with Ann calling him "a really fine musician, really soulful player. And my band really hits this sultry, unhurried, deep groove."
Following some additional solo shows this spring and summer, Wilson will join Jeff Beck and Paul Rodgers for the "Stars Align Tour", as the album is released. Kicking off July 18 in West Valley City, Utah, the tour stops in 20 cities across the U.S. and Canada, including Dallas, St. Louis, Chicago, Toronto and Nashville, before wrapping August 26 in Tampa.
