Heavy Acacia Strain like band

this sounds awesome! heavy as hell and detailed. i would love a run down of how you got all the tones if you had the time, and ever wanted to share. love your work man. keep it up

Kick is LSD, snare is my ddrum dominion snare that I have available on my website, toms are from the kit, natural overheads blended with samples of his cymbals for a bit more consistency. Guitars were 6505 > mesa OS straight slant cab > sm57 > art MPA II pre > daw. Bass was a blend of a few things, vox was a sterling audio st51 LDC :)

any post processing on the guitar/bass? did you layer a sine wave underneath the bass?

Just some slight EQ and taking the time to find tones that worked together and with the drum mix. I didn't have much processing on the gtr's and bass. Guitars were just filtered, a small and narrow cut around 300hz and some slight MB comping to control any low end bulk, and of course, a limiter. Bass was limited, cut around 300 and 500hz, rBass to give it some sub, no sine wave trick, I actually have never tried the sine trick.

Maybe I can mix their next record ;) haha I WISH. But DL actually ended up liking this band, I sent him their last song after he had asked for it.

that's fucking sick, I think their albums will be better once he gets a little more experienced with recording/mixing. I liked the vocals in the band, reminded me of a the dead walk era Vincent. excellent mix btw.
