Hi guys, I am currently helping my friend's band mixing their tracks.
I am trying to produce a heavier mix.

now I have two problems, the mix it's crowded, muddy and guitars sound pretty dull.

FYI,
as Drums, the kick was 100% triggered sample, snare 50% acoustic 50% sample, the rest are 100% acoustic.
Guitars were quad tracked, with 2 sm57(on axis and off axis) with TripleXXX 2x12 combo.
Bass was DI and use amplitube SVX in DAW to get the tone
Vocals and Solo guitars are untouched at the moment, so please nevermind them.

any advice on EQing for this particular track? thanks a lot

I agree that the mix is a little crowded, but I must say that I like the sound of the XXX.
I dont know how to repair your song using EQ but have 2 thoughts :
1. Lose the quad tracking and go for double tracked.
2. You have made the guitar track so huge that it dominates too much and you cant integrate in the other tracks.

This is abit off-topic, but i am impressed of the Triple X Sound.

Is there any chance you can ask for the settings they used?

thanks for the input guys, maybe it's really the guitar sound too huge now?
I am trying to figure it out.

as the triple X sound, as I remember the recording setting was

Guitar was Dean Razorback tuned to B
guitar direct connect to the amp, no booster and whatnot

Triple X on Ultra channel.
Gain around 9 o'clock, Bass 3 o'clock, Mid around 9 o'clock, treble 1 o'clock.
channel volume 3 o'clock, master volume 12 o'clock

2 sm57, on axis that one point directly to the center of the cone, the tip of the mic set it just touched the cabinet cloth.
the off axis one , no tilt angle, just 90 degree against the edge of the cone, the mic to cone distance is the same as the on axis one.
