So I was reading revolver magazineDec 2004 Issue..adn they had a list of heaviest badn and guess who is # 34 .............OPETH...............this is the first time Ive even read anyhtign bout Opeht in a magazine...adn here waht they had to say..........Ill try to type normal:

"Masters of the death Metal dynamic shift,Opeth show that heavy is much heavier when set agianst soimthing light. The long-running Swedish quartet contrasts its blackmore-via-Azagthoth riffage abd gruff vocals with agile passages of folkyfingerpicking and prog-angelic crooning.Calssy where others are simply grim. Opeth bring Zepplin-like grace and breadth to an often-relentless genre"

......WOOHOO..........PEAC EOUT

o man, did anyone catch rolling stone's 500 greatest songs of all time? while i speak from a metal fan's perspective, give me a fucking break, some of the stuff on there was beyond belief. that combined with their abominable "greatest" 100 guitarists list, that put jack white at #16 and tony iommi in the 80s. the latest one is yet another proof of my theory that the rolling stone writers don't actually listen to music.

Just a mag...be glad they talked about Opeth period. They've actually talked about Opeth quite frequently since the inception of the magazine, that's still cool I guess. We all know the top 100 brutal goregrind bands are the heaviest yet shittiest bands alive. Thank you.

Heavy does not equal better
agreed.....

....and if you ask me most shit that's "heavy as fuck," is annyoing and monotoned as fuck.........heh' i bet that pisses a lot of you off...sorry, it's just My opinion though

I don't understand how Nirvana ever got on that list. They are not heavy -- I think that there standing is based on the fact that kids got angry when they listened to nirvana? Uhg?

any of those lists, for best guitarists, or best bands, are the biggest fucking joke on the planet.

ex:
12 Kurt Cobain of Nirvana
16 Johnny Ramone of the Ramones
17 Jack White of the White Stripes

????????

and these should be a lot higher:
55 Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple
70 Eddie Van Halen (hahahaha, are you fucking serious?)
85 Randy Rhoads
86 Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath

and i don't care what anyone says, hendrix is not the best guitarist ever.

Who was #1? And yeah, I saw that guitarist list. Was fucking pathetic. Were Yngwie, Satch and Vai even on it?

The best yet was Chuck getting "#20" on "Guitar world's 100 best metal guitarists"...After they went through all the critically acclaimed/widely favored legends such as jimi page, toni iommi, kirk hammett, dimebag darrel, zakk wylde, randy rhoads etc...they went to Chuck first out of the whole underground based extreme metal. That's real cool of them to acknowledge Chuck like that, because he really was that good, if not good enough to be in the top 5.
