Helloween - Unarmed

Interesting review. All those I have read until now put the album in the toilet and flush it. I am even afraid to download it since everybody but you say the reworking killed the original tunes, and that's too much for me to stand. I may download it later....

I need some more time to digest this one. I like the concept of unplugged albums, but it can be tough to pull off.

I listened to 9 seconds of 'Dr.Stein' and 2 seconds of 'Eagle Fly Free' and I puked (do I hate trumpets in metal tunes :yuk:). Now I understand why mostly everybody is pissed at this :erk:.

For sake of Rob's post I decided to check the KOTSK trilogy. The symphonic arrangement is not bad, but I have listened to much better string quartet and/or symphonic arrangements of other bands' songs, and frankly I think Helloween missed this time (specially the damned xylophone :zombie: ), the chorus on part 2 is very nice tho'. Anyway, sometimes reinventing yourself can be a bad movement.

P.S. Actually I like the 'I Want Out' version, tastes are weird...

I might pick it up but having met the band except Deris a few years back I'm tempted to break my own rule about downloading. Assholes.

I'll check this out circumspectly. Helloween used trumpet sounds on Chameleon (Crazy Kat IIRC) and when I listen to that now, it kinda suits the music. So, if the reworkings suit the music then it could be something nice.

Man, I must be the worst metalhead ever.

I like the new Dr. Stein. Yeah it's not the original by any stretch of the imagination, but I don't hate saxophones on principle. I thought it had a nice groove.

It's not like this is a permanent direction for Helloween. It's just a reverse of the typical "cover a pop song as metal", they're covering a metal song as pop. The band themselves have said they can't wait to go back to rocking out.

The sax interpretation of the guitar line is stuck in my head... damn.

a) not you're not, I have the title
b) your point is very valid and I think it summarizes Sixx review in a way.

It is just that I am (and some other too) not as open minded as you are, your good, my bad

P.S. And I still double mad at them :p

For those disappointed about this record, Helloween has booked studio time for their next heavy album sometime this or next year.
