I got this email today...

Can we please get phone interviews cooking with Bill Leverty of Firehouse and Zak Stevens of Machines Of Grace?

Thank you

Chip

I was wondering if you had anyhting you'd like to ask Bill Leverty. I'll be getting a review copy of his album which is supposed to be as far removed from Firehouse as you can get which for me is a plus. I know nothing about the guy and Chip their publicist insists on getting an interview, So what the hell....

This is gonna be tough cuz I know little about Firehouse beside their albums.

I'd ask about a new Firehouse album and what his influences were growing up. The dude's a fantastic guitarist.

Machines of Grace I have a ton of questions.

First and foremost: how was it to go back over 20 year old songs and dust them off? Did he have to transcribe lyrics, the guitarist spend weeks tabulating the songs? etc.

The Zak Stevens interview is in the can. I caught Zak last Thursday. He's great as always, this was my 3rd time speaking with him and I can't wait for a 4th.... I'll add the Leverty questions to the pool...Thanks.

Bill Leverty is endorsed by Grem Guitars. Grem Guitars is out of Fort Wayne which is local to me... The luthier (Greg Rezel) is the guy who has always worked on all of my guitars in the past. I have know Greg forever. Maybe ask him something along the line of the relationship of him, Grem and Greg Rezel.

I know kinda dorky nerdy musician stuff... but it will sound like you know what the fuck you are talking about! Not that you usually don't. Don't take that the wrong way!

Just a couple of questions:

- They got hits with "Don´t treat me bad" and "Love of a lifetime". However, those songs are a little "cheese" and first albums is full of rockish stuff like "Overnight sensation", "Lovers lane", "Shake and tumble", "Helpless". Nowadays, which songs do they feel more confortable with?

- When they play live, Firehouse focuses only in "Firehouse" and "Hold your fire" albums. What´s the problem with the rest of discography? Do they think it isn´t as good as the successful albums or is it more a "fan problem" that they don´t want to hear the "other" stuff?

- CJ sings exactly or even better nowawadays than in the beginning of their career. What´s his secret?

- What´s is opinion about the "hair bands" term? Does he think Firehouse had any musical connections with bands like GNR, Poison,... or does he think they were nearer to more melodic bands like Danger Danger or Bon Jovi?

btw i called mike foster (the drummer for firehouse) the other day and his answer to a new album was when leverty has basically written most of it since he does most of the writing. thats why we need to ask bill

whoever said they don't play songs from other albums, maybe its just because they don't have a new album to tour behind. i've seen them 4 times and everytime they played at last 3 songs from the album they were promoting and then maybe 1 from the previous album and the rest was from self titled and hold your fire plus the 2 hits from 3
