Hello everyone, soon I might be enrolling in a distance learning institution for my Associate in Specialized Business (ASB) Degree in Applied Computer Science. I closely went through each semester the and modules look very promising. However, I would like you all to please give me your opinion on one's marketability in terms of employment etc if getting an Associate Degree as well as if it is a waste of time?. I do plan to move on to BSc later on but not anytime soon though and this would be an asset when that time reaches.
I checked the school's acceditation and certification and it looks good too.
Anyhow let me know your views on Associate degrees. It will help alot!

Regards,
SM

If you're pursuing Com Sci, dont stop with an Assoc. Keep Going.
With the way things are in 'the real world' get your BS at a minimum.
Employers wont necessarily take you seriously with just a 2 year degree.
If they look at your resume, and you've got either the Bachelors or a
Masters, you're as good as gold. Folks with Masters and PhD's are
recruited. Employers will knock on your door and call your home.
There arent many jobs out there really domestically.Your competition is massive.
Lots of the people you'd be competing with, would have Bachelors and
Masters degrees and maybe even prior experience so it's really crucial
and to your benefit you've got more than just a 2 year degree.

If that's not helpful, always remember, the more advanced your
degree, the more money you can command from employers and you
wont be subject to their crap. The advanced degrees present you
with more options. You can go job to job, company to company
and write your own ticket, your own salary and dictate your
career on your terms. I've seen it too many times and I'm doing
it myself.
