Basically, my band has whittled down to a few ideas for names... I would very much appreciate your opinions on this.

Please before voting, try not to imagine it as a forum mates band, and imagine it as an actual band name... like tagged on tickets and t-shirts. If you think they're all bad suggestions, do not spare my feelings!

Just to clear something up:

Naos - The name of a star in the southern hemisphere. It means "ship" and is taken from a larger phrase meaning 'ship of the sky/air' because of the speed it graces the night sky.

Saiph - The sixth brightest star in the constellation 'orion'... taken from a larger phrase meaning 'sword of the giant'.

You are British, for fuck's sake, can't you come up with some kinky lingo? :heh:

Naos and Saiph are standoutish, but dunno, don't ring any bells, can't come up with associations, except "chaos" and "seraph", or "Sayid" (guy from Lost with hairy armpits).

Silent Night - Winter Night! yow-yow-yow-yow!!!

Naos and Saiph are bound to be mispronounced, Cry of Despair and Nostalgic Winter sound emo, and Snow is probably the name of four thousand other bands you don't want to know about. I like the Silent Night of Winter option because I'm in that kind of mood right now, but Manbeast Warmachine sure is fun. Voted the former.

I like Naos and Silent Night of Winter best. I wouldn´t worry too much about the mispronounciation, since it happens to so many bands... The fans will ask how to get it right, that should matter most :D Reminds me of 1500 times the question: How do you pronounce "Charon"? ... But everyone who´s interested knows it.

Snow sounds like nothing connected to music, like you would name a band "Wood" or "Water" :D Besides, there´s already Snow Patrol.

@Salamurhaaja: yeah haha, I love wrestling actually. Although I only became aware that Rhino is being reffered to as Manbeast Warmachine after me and some freinds came up with the phrase... Gutted really.

I agree with all the criticisms of the name snow by the way, and to a degree, the criticisms of the "emo" names.

Ah, I guess you haven't seen TNA Wrestling in that case :D
In any case, it's either Man Beast or War Machine, not both at the same
time in Rhinos case.

I would go with Snow. I know that there are probably many bands with that name but it is simple and easy to remember and i don't particulary like the other names. Finding a name for a band is so hard, my band is still unnamed even though it has existed for more than 2 years, my choice would be Greenstained Blue but the other members just cant grasp the idea :(

Only in Philly... and the 70s...

Red Hot Chili Peppers - some assumed their new song "Snow (Hey Oh)" is referring to cocaine (which they say doesn't). I'm neither native speaker, nor controlled substances abuser, and I know it. And I was born in the 80s.

Where exactly did you get Naos from? Cause it means "temple" in greek. ;)
The word for ship is something close but different.

I like Naos and Saiph the best, vote goes to Naos. If you need any help with greek names i'll be glad to offer.
