If memory serves me correctly, you were telling Ali and I (at the NYC show) about a band featuring Pasi (x-Amorphis) that you were very fond of. Assuming I didn't dream this, do you remember the name of the band? And if so, is there one disc you'd recommend above the others? Thanks.

The band Paul was talking about is Ajattara, and any of their discs is worth checking out! They have a Myspace page too where you can listen to some songs, go find it, it's good stuff. Pasi rules.

Here's a hint to our European fans... If you have not already, you MIGHT want to start checking out Ajattara. ;)

Zod, All 4 CD's are awesome. It's hard to suggest what to start with. I started with their first CD, "Itse." Very catchy, and tons of hook. It's what "hooked" me into the band. Their newest release "Äpäre" is also a good starting point!

All the lyrics are in Finnish (I believe) and normally this would get to me, but this band is so fucking good, it doesn't matter I can't understand them. I don't have enough praise for this band.

Anyone here listens to Shape of Despair? For my musical taste they're one of the best Funeral Doom bands. Sometimes I like to listen to them when I go to sleep (the music is very dreamy). :)

does anyone of you know paramaecium? they were doom band from austrialia, actually one of the first metal bands to use operatic vocals and violins and stuff. their album Within The Ancient Forest is quite great actually, although it has its flaws... just wondering, i've never heard anybody mention it.
