Seattle’s HIMSA is readying itself for the release of Hail Horror, the new record that Decibel magazine has called “a harder, thrashier Himsa.” The Feb. 7 release will mark the long-awaited debut of new material, following up 2003’s critically-acclaimed Courting Tragedy And Disaster.

Further refining the band’s genre-crossing sound, Hail Horror harkens in a new Himsa, without losing the band’s roots. “I think this album has a good natural progression,” bassist Derek Harn told Terrorizer magazine. “We are very happy with the way Hail Horror turned out. [Producer] Tue Madsen gave us more low end and a cleaner sound that we had been searching for. The production enhances the Thrash-tastic riffs.”

Currently prepping for a few headlining shows following the release of Hail Horror, HIMSA will follow those dates up with a tour supporting Darkest Hour which also features A Life Once Lost, labelmates The Acacia Strain, and Dead To Fall. Upon completion of the month-and-a-half tour on April 1, HIMSA plans on living up to the band’s road warrior status by returning to Europe after their successful tour of the continent in December.
