Hi. Hmmm...

I got distracted from metal a number of years ago and have just been rediscovering my love for it for the last two years or so. I missed a lot. However, I now know why I had such a difficult time socializing all these years--the metal scene is like home.

I just finished up an MFA in creative writing (fiction) with a publishing focus. Like my hiatus from metal, I took a hiatus from horror for a long time. In the middle of grad school I said Fuck it and started writing horror. My thesis is a collection of horror/weird historical stories based in Pittsburgh. I like other forms of music, and I do love a lot of "literary" fiction, but I'm only now feeling comfortable with myself again.

I've literally just finished up classes and I'm just waiting on the commencement in May and I'm done. I have a few projects lined up. In a couple of weeks, I'll be starting a Pittsburgh travel book based on George Romero films--I'm co-writing this with my fiance. I just got a pitch accepted to Fangoria, which I mentioned in the school thread, but it's so flippin' cool, I wanted to mention it again. I've got a handful of other ideas I plan on throwing out to the publishing wind and seeing what flies. I'll also be editing an anthology of Gothic literature for friend's press (I majored in goth lit for undergrad).

Hmm. I like to travel. I like really, really spicy foods. I have a black cat named 'Moggy' whom I pulled out of a pipe under a bridge in an alley in Gettysburg, PA. I like Brit comedies (like everyone else). I'm a dork for Romero flicks and probably know just the right amount of trivia to make me not cool, but pathetic. Oh, and exciting news...I was just diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. Just started the meds last week, so maybe now I will: 1) stop feeling like I'm having a perpetual anxiety attack, and 2) stop losing weight for no reason at an alarming rate. BOOM. :flame:

Neat thing that happened to me recently: I had a very sweet exchange with Chuck Schuldiner's mom via email. I'm ordering some shirts from her. She's very nice. She sounds like my mom. I sent her a Mother's Day Card with my payment. :kickass:
