HOLLOW

I dunno. It sounds like every other AiC song.

So is that a compliment? Anyway, it sounds like something that would have easily fit on BGWtB. An album that was overall "okay" to me and it has nothing to do with it missing Staley either. Too much by-the-numbers for me. It would be nice if they would write more than a single song that really hooks you. The only one that really grabbed me from the last was Check My Brain. The last standout album to me was Dirt, although Jar of Flies was exceptional as well. They've had plenty of great songs since those albums, but no great albums in my opinion.

No, they shouldn't have, because Jerry was the heart of the band. The combination of Jerry and that new black guy sounds better than Layne in most cases.

I LOVED BGWTB, but this new song blows. No emotion. Private Hell and BGWTB still make me tear up, occasionally. Looking In View and Check My Brain were fun.

But, I'll wait and hear the whole album first. You never know.

I wouldn't say Cantrell was the sole heart of the band. Stayley wrote quite a few songs too, and its a shame to think that the chemistry between the two didn't influence how badass their early stuff was. It's like Loomis with out WD; Cantrell without Stayley sucks.
