HOME OF METAL - WE NEED YOU!

Home of Metal is a celebration of the music that was created in the West Midlands, its legacy and influence across the world. Bringing people together to share their passion for the music by creating a digital archive, heritage tours, exhibitions and ultimately a permanent collection dedicated to telling the story of Metal and its unique birthplace.

The Home of Metal digital archive is an opportunity for fans from all corners of the globe to share their passion for Heavy Metal music and contribute stories and memorabilia by uploading images, sound files and film footage.

In the summer of 2011 Capsule will be producing and curating a series of ambitious exhibitions and associated programme under the banner of Home of Metal taking place throughout The Black Country and Birmingham, UK. To include exhibitions at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, Wolverhampton Art Gallery & New Art Gallery Walsall plus a conference, concerts and film programme.

In the meantime WE NEED YOU to contribute to the archive with your metal related wares, informing the exhibitions and playing a part in securing our identity as the Home of Metal.

Saturday 26 March 11am-4pm @ The Public, New St. West Bromwich B70 7PG

For too long the Black Country and Birmingham have failed to celebrate what is rightfully theirs, to claim the region as a home of heavy metal music.

Fans of Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin, Diamond Head, Magnum & Napalm Death dig out your band t-shirts ticket stubs, photos, fanzines, autographs, tour programmes, flyers – join us at The Public, West Bromwich to contribute to the Home of Metal archive.

Hosted by Kerrang! Radio DJ Johnny Doom with special guests including Krusher, former ‘Raw Power’ presenter & Ozzfest compere.

Workshop – Juneau projects will be showing you how you can make your very own DIY guitar + loads of rockin’ family activities!
