Hooking up firewire to non-firewire computer?

Some of you may know that my old computer died on me, and I needed a new one quick. Found a sweet deal on a Toshiba i3 so I jumped on it. Love the thing...but only later realised it doesn't have a firewire port OR a pci slot! Now I can't hook up Mackie Onyx Satellite firewire interface...or can I? Any thoughts? I saw some converters but I fear what it will do to the sound. I'd hate it if I had to drop down to USB

ps. In case it matters, I'm currently recording direct from an ENGLe530 but I intend to later get me an Axe-FX.

If not then you're out of luck unfortunately.

I've seen firewire to USB convertors, I really cant see it working though.

Bbayface and fireface look promising I'll have a look. Don't need that many in and outputs though, just 1 xlr, 1/4 and SPDIF. I'll search the forum a bit for previous threads
