horror movie hoe-down!!!

Hahahaha, this is about the 19th zombie thread here at RC.

I have no zombie stories, but I'll try to dig some up this next week, hohoho...

Zombi 3 rules. It has a flying decapitated head that lunges at some chick from a refrigerator.

I lie - Zombi 3 sucks, heh. :erk:

Dog Soliders does rule though. So does the original Ring (Japan) - forget the American version. Saw it again recently and it doesn't come close to the chaos in the Jap version. And then see Ring 2 for more absurdity.

I didn't like Ringu as much as the Ring, it moved too slow and the female lead was too panicky. Not nearly as hot either. :Smokedev:

Yes Naomi Watts is very hot indeed, but you speak with blasphemous tongue, hssss! The American version was too 'calculated'. They made it all make sense, and that was the wrong thing to do.

Half of the images on the video tape in Rungu go unexplained, and there's no bullshit with dead horses on a beach either. That's the beauty of Japanese film making - it doesn't have to follow the hollywood recipe of three acts and "the butler did it" ending.

We nearly saw Battle Royale 2 last Saturday in London...sold out!

Alright, I see your point. I was looking for horror as opposed to art though, maybe that's why I like the in your face American version.

Except the Haunting, which is the best horror flick ever made, and it's indirect and artsy, and never shows the monster at all. "It's in your heeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaddd..."

The Haunting (remake) is tripe. I hope you're being a good little purist and talking about the original.

In future, my only recommendation for anything is to try the original version first! Shame that people didn't know about Ringu before Hollywood came a calling, and now if you go backwards, some of the novelty will be lost already deep inside Naomi Watts' cleavage (assuming you saw Ringu after The Ring). :(

Tom Cruise's production company is about to remake The Eye. Go rent the original now, along with Battle Royale!!!

Yes, I speak of the original the Haunting. I did not even see the remake. Wait, yes I did, it made me angry. The only redeeming aspect was the fact that the girl I took to see it had enormous breasts.

Yes, seeing the Ring before Ringu definitely killed the suspense, oh well. :(

I tried to buy Battle Royale but was outbid. I'll try again soon, I will I will!

Speaking of horror movies, I watched my dvd of John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness last night. I hadn't seen it in ages. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised how creepy it was, definitely a recommended horror flick.

Isn't that Zombie Flesh Easters 2? I saw that the other day, well done. You can see the dude operating the smoke machine in one scene :D

I have to say, watching Ringu after Ring definately sucks! It might've been suspenseful and mysterious before, but instead it was just a good film, nowt more. I found trying to follow the clues with the main characters in Ring much more tense, and the girl coming out of the TV was much scarier. And it still didn't make much sense where it mattered.

Might be - those films get attached with different titles all over the world.

I didn't really like the "100 Scariest Moments" that Channel 4 ran last week just because they had idiotic presenters, but I am glad they included the original Ringu and not the remake.

By the way, when all is said and done, Ringu/The Ring all adopt a storyline from one of the greatest horror/mystery/thrillers ever made: The Changeling. It stars George C Scott (surely one of the greatest actors ever) and the film is just another example of why the 70's was the greatest decade for genre movies. If you want "haunting", you don't get much better than The Changeling.

George C. Scott owns many actors souls, he's a frickin' genius in Dr. Strangelove.
