How brutal? how big? how everything.....

are they like general moshpits? like the whole place doing it or just sections?

Depends on the age group. Lots of teenagers go to gigs and go into a pit thinking it's a boxing match. But lots of people 20 or so onwards will help someone up when they fall you allways get a few dickheads in a pit i don't bother with them.

the most violent pit ive been in is by far slayer. violence doesnt necessarily mean dickheads but just people with lots of fucking energy going insane for the music and crashing off other people and shit. slayer tops any shows ive been to, cannibal corpse, megadeth, in flames, mudvayne, iced earth, dark funeral, they dont come close to slayer. but the pit isent a necessity at a show, you can easily stay out of them. once you go to a few shows the pit isent no where near as scary as the first time you went to a show, you become accustomed to it, and then begin to love it, and then do it everytime you go to a show. it's all psychological

I didn't say I was scared.I've been to shows and pits but never to an Anthrax show so that's why I'm asking.

Maybe it depends on the country as well. I can tell you moshpit in Munich, Germany was brutal but people were very cool. In Prague it's quite brutal as well.

An Anthrax pit has been as full-on as any pit I've seen, and there's been a few.

i mentioned it in another thread dude, like a slayer mosh in hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!

take my word for it ok

When I saw Anthrax in the early 90's the pits were pretty intense, but also, the venues were sold out and jam packed and just generally crazy. The best pits I've seen since then have been at the World Series if Metal 1996 because there was no barricade and stage diving was allowed, and later on in 1998 they played a small club on the outskirts of Cincy on a night of from the Pantera tour. It was early 1998 in the midst of week of snow and shitty weather. Anthrax weren't yet promoting Vol. 8, they were just jamming and wanted to headline after opening for Pantera since November. Alot of old school metal heads packed the place, got boozed up and went ape for Anthrax.

THe best pits in the business are Slayer hands down. You can't escape the wrath of a Slayer pit at all. It's like the Hotel California, you can check out any time you like but you can never really leave. You go to the balcony of the venue, there people beating one another up there. You go to the restroom, you're liable to wind up face first in a pile of piss, you go to the beer line, good luck holding you beer up. Slayer pits rule. A close second goes to Pantera, because they always play arenas, and if you climb out of the pit and go up high, you can almost always count at least 4 good circle pits on the floor!!!

I remember being in the pit with Joey Z from LOA at a South Carolina Anthrax show. That was pretty fucking cool if you ask me,plus earlier that night Whit Crane let me take the mic for a whole verse.

Don't know about you but I'd rather see the band go nuts on stage than going around in circles getting beaten up.

The pit at the last Anthrax show in London was more intense than the last Slayer show I was at. But I'd have to say it mostly depends on the city. I love a good healthy mosh pit but some of the frat boys and wanna be punk posers that'll mosh at Dave Mathews concerts need a fucking beat down. I kicked the living fuck out of some frat daddy asshole at the last Slayer show I was at. It was towards the end of the show and he thought he'd push his way up to the front of the barricade after jerking off in the bathroom or whatever he'd been doing the whole show, so I fucking Kung Fu'ed his ass right into the barricade. I took out a whole row of poser fucks at a Fu Manchu show once. They kept bumping into me and my girlfriend one too many times. Fu Manchu is not really that mosh worthy in my opionion. I usually a pacifist Buddist but assholes that come to shows to start shit just need to start getting the fuck out. Fist Bang Mania!

Well, hopefully I'll find it easy to stay out of the pits and watch fuckin Anthrax play which is the main reason of going to SEE a band live.

Last time I saw Anthrax live (during the Priest tour last year) I had to wait in the freezing ass rain, so I had to wear my SOD hooded sweatshirt, so then I was sweating my ass off inside around the edge of the pit because I didn't want to hold it. It was so metal. er something like that.

Most of the people in pits I've been in have been cool. They'll help you up if you fall and try to make sure you aren't stepped on. They realize you're just there to have fun, like they are. Sometimes you'll get someone who goes just to be a dick, but those people are rare. My biggest complaint are the assholes that wanna stand in the middle of the pit with their girlfriends and watch the concert. I saw this one guy who kept trying to shove people out of the way once just so his girlfriend could see better. A couple people even tried, over the music no less, to tell him they might enjoy the show more if they moved, but he just kept shoving anyone that got near them.
