How do I record choppy harmonized guitar riffs?

So I'm having trouble recording what the titles says.

When I record the guitars I can get them pretty tight but it just doesn't sound right. They sound a little thin. The one band I can think of that does it right is Within The Ruins. I'm wondering if it's the guitar tone that isn't making it sound right.

Here's a sample

Idk what's going on with soundcloud.

Here's the clip.

in the sample it's more the snare that follows the guitars than the kick...get the kick tighter to the guitars!

the bass sound very dull in this, needs more clarity.

guitars sound really good!

also heavy editing with perfect cleanly played takes will help a lot. i like your track though. your just missing the meat and clarity. it sounds fine playing wise but your just going to have to edit the guitar and bass to the drums perfectly if you want the hyper tight within the ruins sound.

I feel like whenever I edit the guitars and bass it almost sound too MIDI. I feel like moving a note or too around just to be in time is almost like cheating haha. I'll record a few more takes and try and get it as clean as possible.

I think I got it a little bit tighter sounding.

Sorry I should probably move this to the Practice Room.

save as a new file and edit the shit out of it to see if you like it. all that you will loose is time but i can tell you it will either be a lot of time playing to sound unnaturally tight or a little time editing to sound unnaturally tight and that sounds like what your going for if your looking for the within the ruins sound

Yeah your right, I'll mess with editing it. Thanks man, I listened to some of your mixes and they're killer.

Also any ideas to add meat to the mix. I know what you mean and am not sure what to do without it sounding muddy.

well i dont think your very far from what your going for. maybe less low mids like 500 area and more low end around 80-300 and more top end in the 6k area. and more top end on the bass and that will really depend on where it takes boost the nicest. but just experiment with what sounds best to you. and thanks man :D what snare is used on this btw?

Cool, I think the bass is what is making the mix have less weight to it. I have a lot of lows cut from it.

The snares are 11a and 12a btw.

FOR ME guitars have too much around 500-700 and asking for more 180-300. Look at bass mids is there something you can get rid and fiddle around 100-150 for more.
