How to get that Slayer's "Here comes the pain" sound

I remember an interview a while back with Kerry, where he said what settings he uses live, i believe the main subject was god hates us all, and slayer using 7 strings, have a look on google and maybe you'll be able to find it.

Afaik, he used a JCM 800 2203 50W with an MXR 10-band EQ. The EQ was originally a regular one, but it was discontinued and I think he broke his, so MXR made a new Kerry King signature EQ (MXR KRK), but now I think he uses the Marshall Kerry King signature amp with the EQ built-in.

Kerry King also uses EMGs with a preamp boost. Big factor in his tone.

I think you'll have to ask Rick Rubin that. It's not common that amp settings are told in public. And even so, it doesn't even matter. If another guitarist is given the same exact gear and in the same recording room, he will not sound like the other guitarist (Kerry King in this case). So it's a little bit meaningless to say the settings anyway

I'm pretty sure up until the latest album Kerry recorded all the rhythm guitars, so chances are it was him

KK wrote that song, and most of the songs on that album, and I've heard he tracks all the ones he writes. Personally, I wouldn't want to copy any Slayer guitar tones.

I'd take the production (guitar tones included) on Seasons in the Abyss or South of Heaven any day of the week.

I've got one Herculean bastard son of Jim Marshall and when you put that thing on 2, it'll blow you out of any venue!
