In the beginning we're shown a radar, a planet on a collision course with Earth and people protesting and throwing Molotov cocktails. Presumably the end of the world is near. This isn't very difficult to interpret. But what about those people in the backseat? At first I thought they are supposed to represent Stanne's parents but considering the age difference between them it's likely not the case after all. It was suggested in the YouTube comments they are older versions of Stanne and the girl (his daughter?) I wonder whether the message is that whereas the current versions of Stanne and the girl would like to escape Earth, had they been decades older they would have decided it's not worth it as they've seen enough life already?
