How was the NYC show?

Yes PLEASE. Also what merch did they have.Going tonite at Jaxx hoping to get some shirts. Do they have any cds also. The older ones I have Novella,Welcome to Fade, and Pale Hunt. I seen some of the older cds listed on ebay is that the only way to get them now? Cant wait fro tonite!

The entire show was awesome. Sound was iffy at first, but it got better. It was great seeing Thurisaz, Saturnus, and Novembers Doom again. Every band had stuff for sale but Saturnus, I think. CDs, shirts, etc. I forget which they had... I remember they had the Novella shirt.

Jesus, the show was much ownage. ND and Gwinbleidd were definitely the highlights for me. Thanks to the band for tolerating my joke heckling! "TURN LOOSE THE SWANS!!!"
My neck and voice are completely dead today, the sign of a good show.

So first ND have to tolerate "Black Rose Immortal" at Powerfest, and then "Turn Loose The Swans" in NYC.... I am sure they appreciated it...

you're actually getting more bent out of shape than they were. they found it amusing, from what i could tell.

I asked Paul where Demon of the Fall was after I read the setlist.

First off, you are MANY years too late on the Novembers Doom - Opeth jokes.
Secondly, if you truly consider yourself a ND fan, you would know that the Opeth comparisons have plagued the band for many years. It is a bitch they have had to deal with and have been trying to shake for a long time.

I am not getting bent out of shape, though I do get defensive when I hear people making that generic reference to a band I do care about a lot.

I know it was Powerfest, and everyone was in a "Hey, let's get drunk!" kind of mood, so mocking the band may have seemed appropriate. I know you like the band and weren't trying to insult them in any way.

Though look at it in the grand scheme of things. Ok, this may not be my place at all to comment on any of this, though as I said, as a fan of the band I had to speak my mind. You did make me cringe at Powerfest when you yelled "Black Rose Immortal" (After Paul did make it clear that he did not wish to hear any Opeth-related heckling at the show)

We were joking, the band knows we were joking, its no big deal. Lighten up.
But anyway this is all besides the point, which is of course Novembers Doom put on an awesome fuckin show. The new material really shines in a live setting.

Look, no skin off my arse. I am not in the band.
Just saying that I know the band has been improperly tagged as a clone of Opeth / Peaceville for a long time. While that may have been fitting at one point in their career, it certainly is not now.

Anyhow, glad to hear it was a good show. I agree, the new stuff sounds killer. Drown the Inland Mere is completely pummeling live!

I just pasted this from the post I just made on our forum (too lazy to re type cause I am so burnt out/hung over and tired)

Just got home now, after a very looong night and looonger drive lol. 6 hours total! I drank, waaaayyyy too much last night, thanks to GSF's drummer, Dan from Userper and whoever else forced my hand last night lol. I woke up at 5:30 am on the shitter releasing a bad case of piss ass, and from the toilet, I projectile vomited on the bathroom wall at the hotel and into a small plastic trash barrel that was left about 1/2 full with my remnants of hamburger, Pizza, Jameson, Jager, Guiness, Stella, Bud select, and Blue moon lol!!!!1 Man that was bad, I haven't Yuked in probably 4 years minimum!

That show gets a 9 in my book, if GSF's sound was better it would have been perfect! GSF were real good, but from the sound of it in front of the stage it sounds like they had a miz n go set up. The guitars were too loud and the vocals were a bit buried as well as the drums. Mid set they sounded better, But I think they will sound better in Boston!!! Hell yeah. What a good turn out for a Tue too! You have to admire all the peeps from the forums that traveled down to see this stuff. Tom is going all the way to Va, Will went to Chicago and NY, Wolfie and all the Others, it was great hanging/meeting all the UM peeps, I had a blast! All the bands were awesome, Gwynbleidd Were awesome in Minnesota, and twice as good last night.
Thurisaz, were bad assed too, sounded excellent, I heard their cd for the first time in headphones on the way there on the bus, Love it, cool melodic death/black metal from Belgium, very cool guys as well!
Saturnus, were amazing, it has been about 7 or 8 years that I was waiting to see them, and they didn't dissapoint, awesome! and again, very cool guys!
Novembers Doom fucking owned!!!!! Man they were just chrushing! Tight as hell it was immence, a well worth trip to see a stellar linup!!!!
I was very happy they played Rue and Rain, awesome songs!!!! Good to see them again and chat it up a bit. I didn't get to say goodbye to those guys, I think they were getting paid or something (and I know how long that takes sometimes) Anyway, goodluck tonight.

On the way home I listened to all the cd's I got at the show, I opened the Thurisaz cd and there was no fucking cd in there!!! If anyone reads this, could someone grab one for me, or tell them to mail it to me?

So my hauls
2 ND shirts
Thurisaz uhh ummm!!!! No cd inside lol!
GSF cd, Very good, it was totally not what i was expecting(in a good way) They sound more melodic than before with nice keys and acoustic guitars and clean and harsh vocals. Reminds me at times of Dreaded Silence, Sinistas band
Gwynbleidd Awesome to hear the stuff from the set on cd, very good stuff, thanks for the cd guys.

ND had 2 New shirts
and the last 2 cd's for merch I got the 2 shirts already have all their cds

(After Paul did make it clear that he did not wish to hear any Opeth-related heckling at the show)

Direct me to where he said this.

Also, Sorry to make you cringe. I apologize if my sense of humor is obviously not acceptable in your eyes.

BESIDES, I spoke to Paul AFTER their set, too. He even put me on their guestlist to the NY show. Realize that you shouldn't get bent out of shape (which you most certainly ARE) out of a joke when it doesn't offend anyone, including yourself. I will also continue my heckling... even if it's at a Chicago show.

And don't grade me on my "level of being a Novembers Doom fan" if one of the reasons why I spent over $800 last weekend was to see them on their home turf, then endure driving, trains, and massive crowds of people 2 hours away from my home 3 days later in New York City. Just because nobody is a bigger fan than yourself doesn't mean we have to follow your guidelines as to how a fan should act.

The guys all have a great sense of humor, ask Paul about the time when he heckled Bobcat Goldthwait all night relentlessly. I'm a little jealous of the guys that were able to travel & see more than one gig kudos. :headbang:

I am guilty too, I yelled Autmn erection, I should have been beaten for the free t-shirt! That was an amazing time, ND kicked my fuckin' ass. My neck is soar as fuck right now. Hails to ND!!!!

I Just got out of an awesome band practice, thanks to this show. I was all pumped to rock out after seeing so much awesome metal last night!

Will - Ok, let's end this here.
Just want to make a few more points on why it seems I am getting "bent out of shape"

1) Read ANY interview with Nov Doom from the past couple of years. I bet you can't find one where the topic of the band getting misclassified as an Opeth or My Dying Bride is not mentioned to some degree.

2) Paul, whether joking or not, make the comment last week about offering a free t shirt to anyone who kicks the ass of someone who heckles them during their set.

3) Chicago Powerfest was a premiere performance for the band. It is their first gig following the release of the new album. If this was a gig at 2AM at JJ Kelleys, I could see it being a different atmosphere.

I don't claim to be anyone of importance or more of a fan than you or anyone else. I just called the situation as I personally saw it.

If you talked to the guys and they were cool with it, then cool. That's all that matters.

Glad you had a good time at the NYC gig. I am VERY jealous that you got the chance to see them multiple times in one week.

Also, I do not take for granted the fact that you flew in for Powerfest. Much kudos to you and anyone else who made the trip to support the fest.

Hope to see you next year as well....

Don't forget the big "FUCK YOU" that Larry had for Max when he yelled "Turn Loose The Swans"! Both nights were a fucking blast! It was fun from the word go. It was cool seeing Daylight Dies last night. Cool guys, too. I got to see some old friends over the last couple of days, and met and made some new ones. It was definitely the break I needed. I'm off to get some rest now before I go to school tonight.

Ok as for the jokes and so forth. I can't speak for anyone in the band, but being in a band that has played an assload of shows, it is a good feeling to know you have friends (who joke around and make you feel welcome) in other states. For us when you hear personal jokes in the audience that you know are from friends that care, it makes all the difference! I am not saying being fucking assholes. But 2 or 3 comments from loyal fans who you talk to on these forums on a daily basis, come on. You may be over-reacting a bit man,I hope You don't take that the wrong way, cause, I can understand your point. If it were fucking asshole ND haters, yeah, I would be right there ready to fight them for my boys in ND. It was all in fun in NY. If by chance my one comment did offend anyone in ND, I am sorry.

Now back to the topic at hand. That was still an awesome show, and it sucked ass having to lay brick all day after a great time down ther.
