During today’s episode of SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show, Howard Stern shared an update on Billy Joel’s health and discussed a recent dinner they had together.

The Howard Stern Show, which airs on SiriusXM channel Howard 100, is broadcast live Mondays through Wednesdays starting at 7:00 am ET. The full show is also available on the SiriusXM app.

Stern on Billy Joel’s health:

Howard Stern: I saw Billy Joel two weeks ago. We had dinner together and he said to me, “Yeah.”

Robin Quivers: How’s he doing?

Howard Stern: He’s doing fine.

Robin Quivers: He had some issues. He announced an illness.

Howard Stern: Yeah, he does have issues, but he said, “Yeah, you can tell people, you know, I’m not dying.” You know, he wants people to know that. He just, he’s gotta deal with some medical stuff, but he was delightful. We had a great time with the wives. We had a great conversation. I was telling him, I’m enjoying playing classical music on the guitar.

Robin Quivers: I’m sure that made him happy.

Howard Stern: It did. He lit up ’cause that’s what he’s into.

Robin Quivers: But not only that, he knows that classical music is the basis of everything.

Howard Stern: Then it was his birthday, I even brought out the guitar and sang “Happy Birthday” to him, then he threw up.

Robin Quivers: I was gonna say, is he all right after?

Howard Stern: He didn’t seem real impressed.

It was announced recently that Billy Joel has cancelled all of his upcoming live dates, 17 shows in total, after being diagnosed with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH). According to the Alzheimer’s Association, Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) is a brain disorder in which excess cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) accumulates in the brain’s ventricles, causing thinking and reasoning problems, difficulty walking, and loss of bladder control.

A message posted at Billy Joel’s official Facebook page follows:

“Billy Joel has announced that he will be cancelling all scheduled concerts following a recent diagnosis of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH). This condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision, and balance. Under his doctor’s instructions, Billy is undergoing specific physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period. Billy is thankful for the excellent care he is receiving and is fully committed to prioritizing his health. He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage.”

“I’m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding,” said Billy Joel.
