Painted Red Promotions is currently accepting applications for next years battle of the bands. I am going to give full information for this years battle including prizes, scoring, judging, bands, disqualifications and more.
Entrance Requirements:
Entrance fee for this years battle will start at $25 in January and go up $5 per month. Early entrance has its benefits. Applications must be filled out and submitted via email to andrew@paintedredpromotions.com along with a link to audio of the band. Or if you prefer, applications can be sent via postal servicet to the address on the Painted Red Promotions contact page of the website. www.paintedredpromotions.com
Prizes:
Touring Van (will have specifications later TENTATIVE)
Winner will get $2,000 in cash
Winner will get 50 hours of free recording time @ KR Recording
Opening slot for a national act (will be announced in a few months)

All participating bands will get a packet of benefits for participating in the battle including 10% recording time off @ KR Recording in Petersburg. If you have yet to hear their work, it is incredible. Ask me for a sample and I will gladly email it to you.

Scored from 0.5-10 in the following 5 categories
Vocal Ability
Instrumental Ability
Stage Presence/Stage Show
Energy
Overall
Your scores from the 3 counted judges will be averaged together and then points will be added based on fan votes and ticket sales. There was a lot of controversy before about voting and ticket sales counting for too much so to fix this, we have devised a new system. The band who sells the most tickets will get 5 points added to their final score. The band who sells the second most tickets will get 4 points added to their score. The band who sells the third highest tickets will get 3 etc. The same system is applied to the voting system.
Judging:
This is a combination of suggestions from Mike Madison and Ed Savoy. There will be 5 judges for every night of the competition. The highest and lowest scores will be dropped and the three middle scores will be counted.
Bands:
There will be 50 bands in competition at this years battle. The placement for the quarter finals is first come first serve. The first bands to register will get to choose which quarter final night that they want to play. The first night of the quarter finals is August 27th and the last night of the quarter finals is on October 29th. On every night of the battle, there will be 5 competing bands.
Advancement:
The 50 bands from the quarter finals will be narrowed down to 20 bands who will move on to the semi finals. 2 bands from each of the 10 nights of the quarter finals will move on. One band from each of the 5 nights of the semi finals will go to the finals. There will be no wild cards in this battle. The finals will include 5 competing bands and 1 showcase band who will be determined later.
Disqualifications:
Bands will be disqualified from competition for the following reasons.
Running over the allotted time.
Showing up late for load in.
Stealing ticket money.
Negatively effecting another bands set in any way.
Bribery, blackmailing or threatening any of the judges.
