It all started when Tony Blair stunned everyone - including, it was said, his own cabinet - by declaring he would ban hunting before the election.

Good thing about being a leader of a country, with Parliament control, that is destined to lose in the next election: You can do things that you believe in that would normally be political suicide.

Bad thing: Those suicidal things you might do could be extremely wrong.
